Sao Paulo
After a very enjoyable drive through the rain forest, we arrived on the plain where the huge city of Sao Paulo lies or I should say spreads out. The city is HUGE. The third largest city in the world inhabits 17 million people. I had never seen anything like it. It actually dwarfs New York.

Views of Sao Paulo
When we were driving into the city, we saw some extreme poverty at the edges of the city. However, as we drove closer into the city, the city showed off more elegance than most U.S. cities.
We had already booked our hotel in Sao Paulo before we left. Therefore, we drove directly to the airport and dropped off our car and took a taxi into the city. Our hotel was beautiful (going along with Jodene's princess travel itinerary).

This is the large sculpture in the center of the hotel.
Our first night, we went to Spot, an awesome restaurant in the heart of the city. The atmosphere is hip-chic, modern with an eclectic flair. We ordered drinks at the bar as we waited for our table. As we sat there chatting away, in walks this amazing couple. Jodene and I were both in love with each of them. She was a beautiful sophisticated woman maybe in her 40s. He was handsome, debonair and dripping with charm and reaking of wealth.
Soon we were seated at our table. Conversation continued, we ordered our food and then guess who gets seated at the table right next to us--yep the beautiful couple. By the time we done with our entree, we had struck up a conversation with the couple. They were as charming as they appeared. Her a lawyer, he in high finance, both educated and well traveled. We ended up having cocktails and great conversation.
Reeling from our conversation, and a few cocktails, we inquired about a good club to go out to. Our waitress told us of the hottest club for the night. So we moved to the terrace to finish our drinks and get ready to dance. On the terrace, we met another man both as charming and beautiful as the couple earlier. After chatting awhile, he agreed to meet us at the UltraLounge...the hot club.

The club rocked. The people were amazingly beautiful, the music throbbed, and the atmosphere was perfect.
The next day, the guy we met the night before at Spot and went with us to the UltraLounge agreed to show us around the city. He gave us a driving tour of the city. At one point we stopped for tea at the top of a large building in the center of the city.

The pictures at the top of the page were taken from the view of this building.
We also went down to the high-end shopping district. The area made Rodeo Drive seem tame. The sidewalks were covered in red carpet and lights were strewn everywhere.

Mind you, Christmas was coming up soon.
Overall, I really enjoyed Brazil. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of traveling there. I know I will be back.
