Nick's Adventures in Brazil

My friend Jodene and I went to Brazil on November 22, 2002. I had closed on my house that morning and was turning 30 on November 25. I was planning on traveling the world, so what better way to "kick start" my travels than at trip to South America. Jodene and I had a great time in Brazil.

We flew into Rio de Janiero on Saturday afternoon. The weather was perfect. The few puffy clouds were beautiful against the bright blue sky. I could barely contain my excitement for the city and beach while we waited for a taxi at the airport. We arrived at the Ceasar Park Hotel on Ipenema Beach about a half hour later. The view from the hotel screamed "get to the beach." Needless to say, we took the advice.

While in Rio, we spent a lot of time enjoying the beach. That first afternoon I met a group of guys playing volleyball. We played all afternoon that Saturday and again on Sunday. Volleyball is very popular on the beach in Rio. Players occupied each of the many courts on the beach. Through playing ball, I met some wonderful guys.

Yes, we did get our butts off the beach and explore (although one favorite quote from the trip was "we barely got our lazy asses up to see the christ"). That being said, yes we went to the the Christ statue in Rio that overlooks the city. The view is breathtaking.
